Ms. Eva S. Hardy

 

Eva S. Hardy is Executive Vice President of External Affairs & Corporate Communications at Dominion.

She is responsible for corporate communications, advertising and media relations; community affairs and philanthropy; state and federal government affairs, and economic development for Dominion and all of its subsidiaries.

Before moving to Dominion, Hardy served for nearly 10 years as an executive of Virginia Power, one of Dominion's subsidiaries. She was named a senior vice president of Virginia Power in 1997.

In addition to her private-sector experience, Hardy spent 17 years in local and state government, beginning as an urban planner with the City of Portsmouth, Va., and culminating as secretary of Health and Human Resources in the administration of Virginia Gov. Gerald L. Baliles from 1986 to 1990.

A native of Egypt, Hardy immigrated to Portsmouth with her family when she was 13 years old. She holds a master's degree in government and public administration from The American University, Washington, D.C., and a bachelor's degree in political science from Hood College in Frederick, Md.

Hardy serves on the board of the Medical Society of Virginia Foundation, the SunTrust Richmond Community board, the University of Virginia Center for Politics advisory board, and the Thomas Jefferson Institute for Public Policy board of directors. She also has been appointed to serve on several study committees of the Virginia General Assembly.

Her awards include: Flame Bearer of Education Award from The United Negro College Fund; Lifetime Achievement Award from the Urban League of Greater Richmond; citation from the Hampton Roads Chapter of the National Conference of Christians and Jews; Outstanding Women of Greater Richmond in Government and Politics by the YWCA; Newsmaker of the Year from the Virginia Press Women Association; Thomas Jefferson Award from the Richmond Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America; Oliver W. Hill Citizen of the Year; the Leadership Metro Richmond Arête Award; and the L. Douglas Wilder Public Service Award from Virginia Commonwealth University.
