Advisory Committees & Groups

SCHEV has several advisory committees — GPAC, FAC, IPAC, PCAB and CCAB. These committees advise the Council in its policy work and program administration.

Additionally the Council is in frequent communication with several other groups as part of their effort to achieve the Council's mission.

General Professional Advisory Committee (GPAC)

The General Professional Advisory Committee (GPAC) is an advisory group that includes the presidents of the four-year state supported institutions of higher education, the president of Richard Bland College, the Chancellor of the Community College System, and several community college presidents. They meet once a month, usually on the fourth Tuesday of most months except July.

Finance Advisory Committee (FAC)

FAC meets monthly and consists of the chief financial officers of the fifteen four-year state-supported colleges and universities, Richard Bland College, the Virginia Community College System, and several community colleges.

Instructional Programs Advisory Committee (IPAC)

IPAC meets monthly and consists of the provosts or chief academic officers of the fifteen four-year state-supported colleges and universities, the Provost of Richard Bland College, the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs of the Virginia Community College System, several community colleges and several private institutions.

Private College Advisory Board (PCAB)

PCAB meets at least once a year and consists of the presidents of the private not-for-profit colleges and universities in the Commonwealth.

Career College Advisory Board (CCAB)

The Career College Advisory Board (CCAB) was established in 2004 by the Council to provide advisory services in academic and administrative matters and other issues related to private proprietary postsecondary education schools. Any private proprietary institution of higher education or academic-vocational non-degree school certified by SCHEV to operate in Virginia is eligible to have a representative on CCAB.

Library Advisory Committee (LAC)

LAC consists of Librarians from twenty-one Public and three Private colleges and universities. This committee also includes the Director of Library Automation and Learning Resources, the Senior Coordinator of Academic Affairs from the Council of Higher Education, the VIVA Project Director from George Mason University, and Librarian of Virginia from the Library of Virginia.

Learning Technology Advisory Committee (LTAC)

The Learning Technology Advisory Committee (LTAC) assists the Council with technology-enriched learning initiatives.

Electronic Learning Group

A group of Educational Technology administrators from higher education institutions across the Commonwealth of Virginia formed to reassess the capital outlay decision-making process in light of new trends in distance education

Student Advisory Committee (SAC)

SAC is comprised of students from 2- and 4-year institutions throughout the state who advise the Council on systemwide issues of concern to Virginia's college students.

State Coordinators for The Academic Common Market (SCACM)

State coordinators to contact for information about the Academic Common Market. Contact the coordinator of the state or commonwealth for which you are resident.

State Committee On Transfer (SCT)

SCT consists of administrators from public colleges and universities and state educational agencies.

Virginia’s Chief Transfer Officers (VCTO)

VCTO consists of the Deans, Registrars, Directors of Admissions, Counselors and Advisors from Senior Institutions and Richard Bland College, the Virginia Community College System and CICV Institutions.

2007 Assessment Task Force

Charged with recommending process oriented guidelines for the development of institutional assessment plans–with a particular focus on the incorporation of value added methods and interpretations into institutional assessment programs.
